Records make it clear that many ruling dynasties around the world have chosen hunting as their prime leisure pursuit. Wild boar and deer were hunted with dogs and shot with bows. British royals and members of the nobility have always made hunting their passion and so it remains today.
History shows that our royalty and noblemen were hunting partridge and pheasant during the 16th century. Pheasants were originally brought into Britain by the Romans, who imported them from Asia. The birds were shot by the privileged few with the very first shotguns.
By the mid 19th century, shooting was firmly established throughout the countryside and had become the favourite sport of royalty and the aristocracy. As time moved on, new wealth was created by successful businessmen. They used their wealth to establish their own shooting estates, which enhanced their status and could be used to invite their friends to partake in this elite sport. The same is true today and many big deals are concluded during a day’s shooting.
We have arranged for a fortunate few to have the opportunity to experience the very best of formal game shooting on two of Britain’s best privately owned game shooting estates. During the coming season just one syndicate of 8 special individuals will have the opportunity to be treated as honoured guests of both Lord Faringdon and Sir Peter Michael to shoot over their beautiful estates. Sir Peter also owns the Vineyard Hotel, one of the best hotels in the UK, where you will be staying during your three days of shooting.
Prior to your game shooting experience, you will spend a full day under the expert tutorship of the world- renowned shooting coach John King, at the highly regarded Barbury shooting school, which John founded 25 years ago. He has so far coached three generations of some of our best known landed gentry. John will fit each of you with a shotgun suitable to your stature, which you will use during your shooting experience. John is an expert in the very latest “applied sport psychology” techniques, which will take a person from a complete novice to a competent shot within the space of a few hours. Refreshments will be available during the day, including a delicious lunch, which will be provided by the Vineyard Hotel.
On completion of your days coaching with John, he will return with you to Sir Peter’s wonderful 5* Vineyard Hotel. He will oversee your fittings for traditional game shooting attire, which you will be proudly wearing during your game shooting days and yours to keep for future shooting occasions. As you admire each others outfits and enjoy the most fabulous wines from Sir Peter’s own private Californian vineyard, you can sample the chef’s delights and look forward to the following day’s game shoot.
John will collect you after breakfast and travel with you the short distance to Lord
Faringdon's immaculate Buscot Park Estate. Shooting on the estate is very private. Only Lord Faringdon, his family and close friends shoot on the estate, so this invitation is very special. You will be greeted by Lord Faringdon upon your arrival. You will then experience your first exciting game day shooting a mixture of pheasants and partridge. Your shooting instructor from the previous day will stand along side you to ensure your success. After the morning shooting you will join Lord Faringdon for a sumptuous lunch of fine food and wine. There will be more exciting shooting in the afternoon followed by an invitation from Lord and Lady Faringdon to join them for tea .You will then be personally escorted on a tour of their home, Buscot Park Hall. The house is full of antiques and paintings, which have been collected from all over the world. The Faringdon Collection includes paintings by some of the world’s most famous artists, such as Rembrandt, Reynolds, Rubens and van Dyck. After this exciting tour, you will return to the Vineyard to relax before your evening activities.
The second days shooting will be on the Eddington estate, which is owned by Sir Peter Michael. On this second day of shooting you will feel even more confident with your newly discovered shooting skills, making it the climax of your shooting experience. You will be accompanied by the same friendly instructor throughout the day. After the morning shooting, lunch will be served at the lodge, where you will enjoy more of Sir Peter’s fine wine. There will be shooting again in the afternoon and then back to the Vineyard to relax.
That evening as you relax around the dinner table enjoying sensational food and exquisite wines, you can reflect how much you have enjoyed your rare and unique experience, THE SPORT OF KINGS.
The Sport of Kings Invitation Itinerary
DAY 1
Guests arrive at London Heathrow Airport. They will be met by the Invitation Manager, who will remain with the guests during The Sport of Kings Invitation. Luxury transport will convey guests to the prestigious Dorchester Hotel. The Dorchester is the home of the famous China Tang restaurant, which is owned by the acclaimed Hong Kong entrepreneur, Sir David Tang, where dinner will have been arranged. Sir David is a highly accomplished shot and shoots on the very best estates in the country. The Invitation Manager will discuss with the guests their itinerary for the next day. Making suggestions and looking after their wishes. Upon arrival at the hotel, guests may also wish to relax in the famous Dorchester Spa after their flight.
DAY 2
After breakfast, luxury transport, which will remain available throughout the visit, will convey guests to their agreed morning activities. Lunch will have been arranged at the famous Ritz Hotel. The restaurant is famed for its superb food and fine wines and without doubt the most beautiful dining room in London. After lunch, guests will partake in their agreed activities and when ready will be taken back to their hotel. Lunch at the Ritz can only be followed by dinner at the Savoy. Guests will have enjoyed the finest food and wines in the best hotel restaurants in town. The Invitation Manager can arrange further activities by request.
DAY 3
Breakfast will be followed by a drive to Barbury Shooting School for a day of shooting tuition. An exquisite lunch will also be provided. A three night stay has been arranged at the exclusive Vineyard Hotel, parts of which date back to 18th century. Sir Peter Michael owns not only the hotel and the Eddington Estate, but also extensive vineyards in California. Some of his greatest wines sell for £30,000 per bottle. Guests will be personally greeted by senior hotel management.
The very best suites have been arranged for the guests, who will experience the delights of the finest food and wine to be found in the country. The stay is a gastronomic experience. Upon arrival, check-in will be made in the privacy of the guest’s suite, where a signed bottle of Sir Peter Michael wine will be waiting. There will be full access to the pool, sauna, steam room or Jacuzzi at any time during the stay. For the first night, the hotel will prepare an exquisite 7-course tasting dinner in the award winning restaurant. Wines are carefully selected by expert sommeliers to compliment each course. On the remaining two nights guest can explore the a la carte menu for a 3-course dinner accompanied by superb selected wines. A cellar tour will be arranged to view some of the 2,300 fine wines, which appear on the wine list.
DAY 4
A day of private game shooting will be enjoyed by the guests at the Buscot Park Estate by invitation of Lord Faringdon who will join you for lunch and Lady Faringdon will also join you for tea. After tea, Lord and Lady Faringdon will guide you personally on a tour of their magnificent home, when you will be able to view their many treasures.

DAY 5
A second day of game shooting will be enjoyed by guests at the Eddington estate by invitation of Sir Peter Michael. A special lunch will be provided by the Vineyard, which will include some excellent wines from his private cellar.
A leading photographer will attend during the three days of shooting and each guest will be presented with a beautiful personalised leather bound album containing photographs of this memorable event. In addition, a cameraman will capture the excitement of these three days on DVD. Four copies will also be presented to each guest together with 6 signed bottles of Sir Peter Michael wine together with a complementary copy of John King’s book “Game Shooting From Scratch”, signed by John with a foreword by Sir Peter Michael.
DAY 6
Guests will be driven back to London to check-in at the Dorchester hotel. Lunch has been arranged at Boisdale in Canary Wharf. Guests will be taken to the Savoy Hotel for cocktails, where a private motor launch will be waiting to take you down the Thames to this new and exciting restaurant, which is in the heart of the City of London. This is where the money is made and spent. Boisdale offers the best Scottish beef in town. It also has the largest whisky collection in the world and the largest collection of Havana cigars in the country. A walk in humidor, where cigars can be sampled and a huge heated cigar terrace is available to enjoy both. The Invitation Manager will discuss with the guests what they would like to do for the remainder of the day and decide on the venue for dinner, which will be at one of the very best restaurants in London. After dinner activities can also be arranged.
DAY 7
We will accompany the guests to London Heathrow Airport and see them safely into check in for their journey home.
The price is 24,650 GBP per person based on a group of 8 people. A 50% non-returnable deposit will be required at time of booking and the final payment by the 1st of September 2012.
Air fares are not included.
The price is totally inclusive with the exception of any additional items that guests may order from their hotels. Payment for these items must be settled by guests directly with the hotels. We are also pleased to offer and discuss with our clients a shorter or extended version of this very special programme and the costs involved.
London Activities which can be Arranged for Guests
Personal shopping can be arranged at famous London stores, such as Harrods and Fortnum & Mason, where guests will be escorted by a senior member of the management.

Some of the oldest and most exclusive shops are in this area of London. John Lobb, a bespoke boot maker since 1676. Berry Bros & Rudd, exclusive wine merchants since 1698 and Davidoff, the makers of the finest Cuban cigars, are just a few. We can arrange a special personalised shopping experience at the most exclusive shops in London, where you will be greeted by their owners or senior management, who will personally look after your needs. All the most famous brands in the world are represented in central London. The shopping experience will include the history of these exclusive brands and the way in which they are manufactured and produced.
The West End Experience
The West End of London contains the most fashionable shops in the world. Gucci, Hermes, Burberry, Chanel and Louis Vuitton to name but a few. We can arrange personal viewings at all the top brand shops and provide you with the unique history of their amazing success.
Evening activities can include the London Theatre, where the best seats can be arranged for you by the theatre owners or management. Also, membership can be arranged to London's top casinos , such as Aspinalls, Crockfords and the recently redesigned Playboy Club.
These additional VIP activities are all included in the price and can be discussed with your invitation manager, who will also be pleased to discuss with any non-shooting syndicate members, other possible activities that may incur additional costs to the all-inclusive price on an individual basis.
